so, parallels (if you can even call them that?) between 4.19 and 5.11,
4.19, aria is at the brew creating a little octagon shape out of toothpicks, eerily reminiscent of the gazebo plot.
5.11, melissa reveals that she buried bethany in the gazebo area because she thought she was protecting spencer.
4.19, the camera pans past a chair with a leopard print scarf on it, covered in shards of broken glass.
5.11, aria wears a leopard print top and coat, and later, a leopard print scarf and belt (although the top was featured in 5.10, too, the jacket was more prominent here. i thought the overlaying of leopard was interesting.)
4.19, aria walks towards a shadow who we believe is ezra. they flick open the lodge lighter (nigel wright’s, technically,) illuminating their face, and they are revealed to be toby.
5.11, byron, aria, mona, and mike are all watching strangers on a train at a local theatre in rosewood (+ paige and paige’s date!) the screen plays a scene of one of the characters illuminating another characters face with a lighter.
- melissa and aria both dawn leopard print scarves in 4.24/5.01. 4.24 is when we see a parallel between the glass shattering at the jazz club in NY (in comparison to the night club in spencer’s dream fantasy world.)
i’m not sure if these parallels mean anything aside from the writers just being into using them. i do think aria creating the octagon shape is odd and i assume that unless marlene & co. are intentinally throwing in Aria Is A “hints” knowing the stir it will cause, then this will be, at some point, addressed. it is interesting that most of these parallel “clues” feature aria.
i am not familiar with strangers on a train, as i haven’t ever seen it, but i’ve been reading a few theories in the tags surrounding it and from my understanding, the general synopsis is that two men agree to kill someone for the other, so neither will be a suspect in the investigation.
if this is the case, i wonder if the woman shown on the screen with the lighter could represent aria, as the man holding the lighter could represent toby. however, i don’t know who either character is and what that could mean for aria/toby, so. i suppose it’s just an idea.
